  1. Getting to know your drive platform
  2. The main control panel
  3. The basics in power
  4. The basics in water
  5. Responsible RV ownership

Get to know your drive platform

  • Who can legally drive the RV

Most Apollo built RVs come standard as a C class motorhome or campervan and can be driven by anyone who holds an open licence.

However, if you have upgraded to a 5.2T vehicle, you are already aware that only driver's who hold an LR license are legally allowed to drive the RV.

To find your vehicle's class, always refer to the VIN plate.

  • Learn how to drive the RV

Take the time to read the drivers operation manual and understand the features of the drive platform. Ensure you know where the jack is located, what maintenance requirements your RV has and how to operate the vehicle with confidence.

  • Drive Safe by knowing your RV

Always ensure you are doing a perimeter check, inside and out of your RV before taking off each and every time you hit the road.

An RV is typically between 7 to 8.5m in length and 3.2m in height. For your safety, and other road users, it is imperative you drive to the conditions..be it of the road, weather and your fully loaded RV.

The main control panel

In one of the centralised overhead cupboards you will locate the master control panel.

Consider this a large remote control where you will need to access to turn on and off accessories as well as monitor power supply.

In here, you will find access to turn on your lights, fridge, media, water pump, water heater,

toilet flush and range hood.

This panel also allows you to monitor battery charge , solar supply and tank levels.

Power supply

Your RV is powered by a combination of 12 and 240 volt accessories.

12 volt

The electric step, lights, USB ports, fridge, toilet flush, toilet vent, ignition of the hot water system, ignition of the gas stove all operate off 12 volt supply.

240 volt

The entire RV can be powered by 240 volt, however the air-con, microwave, stove & oven,

and 240 volt power points can only be run whilst plugged into mains power or with a generator running.

Solar

The solar panels on your roof, as well as the charge from the vehicle engine will automatically alternate to provide charge to your batteries.

It is important that you be mindful of your power supply levels. Turning off accessories when not in use will preserve your battery levels whilst not running off mains power supply.

Gas

If your RV is fitted with gas, the hot water, gas stove, and 3 way fridge can run off this source. For your safety, always ensure the you are tightly turning off the gas and locking its compartment securely when not in use, during travel and overnight.

Water supply

Your RV is fitted with 3 types of tanks for fresh water, grey water and finally a waste cassette.

Ensure you are regularly monitoring your tank levels using the control panel system. The toilet cassette should be emptied on average every 2 days whilst travelling.

It is not recommended you drink from the fresh water tank, and always carry fresh drinking water with you during your travels.

Responsible RVing

Whilst we encourage you to head out on your adventures straight away and embrace the RV living lifestyle, your safety is of the upmost importance. It is your responsibility to ensure you:

  1. Are confident in driving the RV, and are aware of the size of the vehicle
  2. Have a solid understanding of the accessories fitted within your vehicle and how to use them
  3. Are aware of your payload, weight distribution and safe storage of items within your RV
  4. Read on delivery and carefully store away your manuals inside the RV for reference at any point during your travels
  5. And finally, are being an overall responsible RV owner during your travels
